Pack 102 will hold its Pinewood Derby on Saturday, January 27, 2001 at Olmsted Community Church.

Weigh-in (MANDATORY): Friday, January 26 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Racing: Saturday, January 27 starting at 9:00am

Kits to build your Pinewood Derby racer were given to each Cub Scout in Pack 102 on November 27. You have plenty of time to plan and build a winning racer with your son.

Winning can be defined as either very fast or very awesome ... we have prizes for both. During the race, boys race against the others in their age group and also against the entire Pack. Prizes are awarded for the fastest in each age group (Tigers, Wolves, Bears) as well as overall prizes for fastest in Pack 102.

Here are a few winning tips to get you started. Remember, this is a parent/son activity. You should have fun working on this project together. If the parent's build the racer, you son has not learned anything.

Weight should be as close to 5 oz. as you can get it, but not over or you disqualify. The Post Office will be happy to weight your car on their very accurate electronic scales.
When lubricating, use graphite or Teflon, never oil. The viscosity of oil actually slows these light weight cars down.
Add weights near the rear wheels to get close to 5 oz.
